Bathukamma - An annual event during Navrathri celebrations
8 person camping tent
Camping in India as an outdoor adventure activity is in its nascent stage. Only recently people started talking about camping in wilderness. For first time campers GreenAcres provides a controlled environment and makes sure you have a good first time experience. Here's a survival checklist that gives an idea of what's required for camping outdoors. One can buy the camping gear at local stores like On the Rocks and Wildcraft. REI is another great outdoor adventure gear store if you have someone coming from the USA. You can learn how to pitch the tent that we provide and camp for the night in your sleeping bags and enjoy the outdoor camping experience around the campfire. One can enjoy the camping experience of cooking simple food on the conventional firewood stoves and Barbecue (BBQ) grill. Spend a quite night at the campground with bare necessities. Once you get a hang of it you can explore other exciting campgrounds referred in the Indian Adventure website.
Farm Tour & Field Work
We provide an educational tour of our farm to the visitors and our campers and provide information about organic farming methods and good agricultural practices. We inculcate a sense of responsibility and concern for our environment in the young and impressionable minds of the children by providing facts and showing them the hard work that goes into food production. You can take part in the farm work such as weeding, composting, trenching, digging and tree planting. This makes people have a better understanding and appreciation for the food on the dining tables. We also screen movies and documentaries in our open air theater on subjects related to environment, wildlife, nature and planet earth.
Nature Walk and Hiking
The soothing effects of the green environs, pleasant countryside climate, the sounds of the birds and the peaceful atmosphere relaxes your body much quicker than a stuffy room with air conditioning. Get up early in the morning with a refreshing feeling and take a walk on the nature trails and spot some wild life. If you are lucky you could spot wild peacocks, snakes, monitor lizards and a variety of other birds. Breathe some sweet smelling fresh and unpolluted air and get rejuvenated.
Climbing and Hiking
Climb the rocks in the near by Raigir hills for some adventure and fitness assessment. One need not be an expert rock climber to go bouldering in these hills. These are natural boulders that you can climb without any gear and still have lot of excitement. These rocky landscapes provide for some good photographs while trekking and hiking.
If you are a nature lover and an avid bird watcher then the fruit trees at GreenAcres provides you a good opportunity to spot some lovely birds that have made the trees their home. You can also spot a variety of other visiting birds that come to GreenAcres to get a bite during the day. For the pure delight of seeing these birds we actually lose a portion of our produce to them.
Away from the city lights, in pitch dark clear skys gaze at the celetial bodies and spot the planets and stars. It is just so beautiful to see the vast expanse of the clear sky and the stars. It is such a humbling experience making us realize how small and insignificant we are, yet we seem to think otherwise. Learn a thing or two about the universe and our very own existence on this planet.
