Be Eco-Friendly | Live Sustainably
"live simply so others can simply live"
GreenAcres is a natural and chemical free farm with a unique and beautiful farmhouse with glamping facilities. GreenAcres was founded in 2008 to promote healthy and sustainable living by connecting people to nature. The name GreenAcres was adopted from the American TV Series GreenAcres in which a couple moves from New York City to live in a rural country farm to work the land. Our core areas of interests and efforts are in food production, energy conservation and environment protection.
We have acquired a few acres of degraded barren land in the year 2001 and worked the land to convert into a lively environment by growing a variety of fruit and forest trees and developed an excellent Agroforest with good plant bio-diversity. We have actually observed the return of some native species of wildlife. Although not by intent or design we discovered that our method of agriculture is also known as Permaculture (permanent agriculture). The idea is of a forest ecosystem that would provide sustenance for all living on the land indefinitely by virtue of a closed loop system. This is a system where there is no waste, and all creatures in the system live and thrive in a symbiotic relationship with one another in a way that someone's output is someone else's input. In sustainable agricultural systems, there's no such thing as waste: manure is part of a holistic cycle and serves as fertilizer. Sustainable agriculture is an integrated farming system to increasing farm yield and managing resources in order to address all three critical aspects of sustainability: economic (viability), social (equity) and environmental (sustainability) .
We have built some rain harvesting structures and water bodies to improve ground water levels for our bore wells. We grow vegetables, rice, grains and pulses - all naturally with only organic inputs. We aspire to be a Social Enterprise with a firm belief in the triple bottom line of 3Ps viz. People, Planet and Profit. We are working on various socio-environmental opportunities such as sustainable agriculture using traditional eco-friendly methods, natural resources management, waste management, regional and renewable energy systems and materials. We are developing a model organic farm with natural agricultural practices that are self-sustaining and can easily be replicated and adopted by others. We are working to bridge the gap between eco-friendly producers and health conscious consumers and create a win-win situation for both the farmers and the consumers. This is still work in progress for a better tomorrow.
We offer farm stay rooms at our unique and elegant farm house and simple outdoor camping facilities for nature lovers and adventure seekers for a different kind of experience (a transition) with low carbon footprint. Please understand that GreenAcres is NOT a RESORT. It is a resort style retreat with a village vibe. We would like to think of it as a RETREAT from all things complicated to all things simple and natural. A Rejuvenation center for the body, mind and soul by connecting with nature.

Vision
Our vision is to connect people with nature, especially the younger generation, to educate them and help them create an eco-system that is healthy and sustainable.
Sustainable living means consuming natural resources in a way that ensures their renewability, regeneration, and recyclability—so that nothing is wasted, everything functions in a closed loop, and the same resources remain available for future generations of consumers.

Mission
We believe in a model of sustainable living where every resource we consume is renewable, regenerative, and recyclable. Our goal is to create a closed-loop system with zero waste—ensuring that the same resources we rely on today remain available for generations to come. Our mission is to grow lots and lots of trees in all of our properties. Engage in organic and sustainable farming without use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Through fun and adventurous tent camping and farm stay, connect people with nature and educate them about simple and healthy living. We want to seed young minds with holistic thinking for the 21st century, if they wish to continue a lifestyle similar to the high energy lifestyles of the 20th century.
Objective
Our objective is to promote the cause of greener planet. We want to involve children mainly to inculcate a sense of purpose and responsibility in them. Our goal is to highlight the grave threat to the environment and urge people to preserve nature by avoiding further deterioration of the ecology.
Philosophy
We believe in the philosophy of simple & sustainable living. To live sustainably is to live with the awareness that we are part of a larger cycle. It means using natural resources in ways that honor their ability to renew, regenerate, and return—ensuring that nothing is wasted, and that future beings inherit not scarcity, but continuity. Conscious consumption and development of sustainable technologies are the need of the hour. We adhere to 3Rs namely Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. We also believe in Repair, Recover, Refurbish, Renew & Re-purpose existing stuff as opposed to trashing the old stuff and producing new things with virgin materials whose net result is more strain on our natural resources and a larger carbon footprint. At GreenAcres we promote the 3As philosophy of Austerity (‘‘consume less’’), Alternatives (‘‘fulfill basic needs from local surroundings’’) and Afforestation (‘‘growing trees to solve many man made problems’’).
"Only when the last tree has been cut, the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money."
